In a bid to fight off the PNG Chiefs, the Raiders tabled a four-year, $1.1 million per season, deal for Young to keep him in Canberra until the end of 2031.
The Chiefs targeted the 28-year-old with a reported $900,000 per-season (tax-free) offer as they look to bolster their thin forward pack.
The Raiders released a statement on Monday afternoon confirming the news.
“After discussions with members of the board and senior management, the Canberra Raiders have withdrawn their latest contract offer to Hudson Young,” the statement read.
Young has played more than 150 games for the Raiders and the club wanted to keep him in Canberra for the remainder of his career.
“The offer that was made was the largest in club history. As a club, we believe we have done all we can to keep Hudson in Canberra,” the statement said.

“However, negotiations have been ongoing since June, and the club needed an answer before the end of October so they could plan for the future.
“Hudson remains contracted to the Raiders for the 2027 season, and we look forward to seeing him return for pre-season training.”
It means the Chiefs are now in the box seat to get their man but will likely have to offer him $1 million a season as that’s what the NRL’s salary cap auditor reportedly valued the star back rower at.
The game’s boss V’landys said they would have to pay $1 million to get Young so the salary cap isn’t “manipulated” by the Chiefs’ ability to offer tax-free deals.
