Apple’s iPhone Duo repair manual documents two batteries with different access routes: one behind the back glass and another behind the outer display. Each has its own removal and installation procedure, with diagrams identifying the components on both sides of the folded phone.

The manual, published October 23, includes troubleshooting, internal diagrams, parts lists and repair instructions. Its contents also cover the inner display, outer display, display cover layer, Touch ID button and USB-C connector.
Reaching the two batteries requires different opening steps.
Apple’s Battery 1 procedure requires removing the back glass first. Its separate Battery 2 procedure starts with the outer display. Both describe electrically released adhesive and recommend Repair Assistant after installation.
Replacing the two batteries therefore involves opening different parts of the phone. Apple’s internal and exploded views identify the two assemblies and the components surrounding them.

The manual also covers displays and hinge troubleshooting.
Beyond the batteries, the contents include separate procedures for the inner display assembly and outer display cover layer, alongside troubleshooting for hinge, sensor and Touch ID problems. The manual does not establish current parts stock or a complete repair price.

Apple’s introduction says the procedures are intended for people with the knowledge, experience and tools needed to repair electronic devices. The manual is useful even without attempting a repair: it shows how Apple separates the Duo’s serviceable components.
The company has separately discussed the phone’s exterior materials, including its investment in US titanium production for iPhone Duo. These diagrams provide a closer look at what sits inside that enclosure.
