SCALABRINE FURTHER FUELS TATUM-BROWN DRAMA AS CELTICS ESCAPE OVERTIME THRILLER
The Boston Celtics have escaped with a thrilling overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets, but it was a comment from former player Brian Scalabrine that grabbed plenty of attention.
Late in the fourth quarter, Scalabrine appeared to add more fuel to the growing tension surrounding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
As the broadcast team discussed Tatum’s turnovers, Scalabrine took the opportunity to reference Brown’s numbers from last season.
“Now if I was doing PR work for Jayson Tatum, I would remind everybody who led the league in turnovers last year, but I’m not doing that,” Scalabrine said.
Brown led the NBA in total turnovers last season with 259, and Scalabrine’s remark comes just days after he made explosive claims about the Celtics star.
Scalabrine recently claimed Brown had requested a trade from Boston, with the Milwaukee Bucks his preferred destination, while also alleging he had attempted to convince teammates to join him.
On the court, the Celtics were pushed all the way by a Brooklyn side still searching for its first win of the season.
Nets rookie Mikel Brown forced overtime with a stunning turnaround three-pointer late in regulation, but Boston eventually held on for a 125-124 victory.
Tatum starred with 40 points, eight assists and five rebounds, remarkably finishing the contest without committing a single turnover.
Paul George added 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Derrick White chipped in with 16 points, six assists and five rebounds.
The victory improves Boston’s record to 3-1, while Brooklyn remains winless at 0-4.

TOWNS, REED SQUARE UP AS HART STEALS SHOW IN FIERY KNICKS CLASH
The New York Knicks have claimed their first victory of the season in a fiery clash with the Detroit Pistons, with tempers boiling over in a heated third-quarter confrontation.
Karl-Anthony Towns was a monster for the Knicks, finishing with 27 points and 20 rebounds, but it was his heated exchange with Detroit’s Paul Reed in the third quarter that grabbed plenty of attention.
The two big men became tangled while battling for a rebound in the third quarter, with neither willing to back down as the situation quickly escalated.
Towns and Reed went face-to-face in the middle of the court, squaring up as players and officials rushed in to separate the pair before things could get further out of hand.
But during the chaos, Knicks guard Josh Hart provided one of the funniest moments of the contest.
As players attempted to calm the situation, Hart jokingly squared up to his own assistant coach, catching him completely off guard.
The coach turned around and squared up to find Hart standing in front of him, with the Knicks guard bursting into laughter as the tension began to settle.
Away from the drama, Jalen Brunson was strong with 23 points and seven assists, while OG Anunoby added 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
For Detroit, Cade Cunningham finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Reed put together an impressive performance of his own with 22 points and nine rebounds in his battle with Towns.
The result hands New York its first win of the season, while the Pistons suffer their first defeat to fall to 3-1.
WEMBY DOMINATES AS SPURS CRUISE PAST WINLESS KINGS
The San Antonio Spurs have cruised to a dominant victory over the Sacramento Kings, with Victor Wembanyama leading the way.
Wembanyama finished with 29 points, ten rebounds, five blocks, two assists and two steals as the Spurs claimed their second win of the season.
San Antonio took control of the contest with a stunning 38-15 run across the first and second quarters, led by a red-hot Julian Champagnie.
Champagnie knocked down eight three-pointers in the first half, the most by a Spurs player in a half since at least the 1997-98 season, on his way to 24 points before the main break.
The Kings had no answers as San Antonio cruised to a 130-103 victory, with seven Spurs players finishing in double figures.
For Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis led the way with 20 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, but it wasn’t enough to stop another defeat.
The Spurs improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Kings remain winless at 0-4.
