Devin Haney has moved on from a potential fight against Shakur Stevenson…for now.

According to a report from Ring Magazine, Haney — the current WBO welterweight champion — will face off against IBF welterweight king, Liam Paro, in a title-unification bout on Dec. 19, 2026 in San Francisco, California.

Haney was in talks to finally face off against the aforementioned Stevenson before negotiations stalled once again, leading to the undefeated champion (33-0-1) to look elsewhere for a fight just a few days after signing a deal with DAZN promotions. Haney was last seen defeating Brian Norman Jr. almost a year ago to win the title. With 15 knockouts on his resume, Haney will now look to add one more championship belt to his mantle.

As for Paro, he won the IBF division title with a win over Lewis Crocker earlier this year, his third straight win. With a record of 28-1. Paro’s lone defeat came at the hands of Richardson Hitchins in Dec. 2024, which cost him the light welterweight title. Now, he has the chance to unify the belts and secure the biggest win of his combat career.

Of course, the winner of this fight still has a ways to go in order to unify all of the belts. as Teofimo Lopez currently holds the WBA super strap, with Jack Catteral holding the WBA regular title. Furthermore, Ryan Garcia is the WBC champion while The Ring belt is currently vacant.

Having said all of that, there could be a lot of intriguing fights waiting for boxing fans in 2027.
