Kyle Sandilands has opened up about what upset him the most after his $10 million-a-year contract was torn up.
Kyle has arguably had the biggest year of his career to date: the number-one breakfast show he co-hosted with Jackie O Henderson, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, was scrapped after the pair had an on-air fight.
Australia’s most infamous shock jock went from a record-breaking $10 million-a-year, 10-year deal to being a showman without a show.
Interestingly, the 55-year-old admitted on his new show, Kyle Sandilands Live (a show I also work on), that the cruel comments people made about his marriage is what got under his skin the most during the turbulent time.
“The most upsetting thing to me reading people’s comments was, ‘Let’s see how long the wife lasts without all that money,” he said.
“I don’t mind being insulted, but to insult my wife to say she’s with me for cash is ludicrous and a demented way of thinking.”

Kyle married his long-term partner, Tegan Kynaston, in 2023 at a glamorous soiree in Darling Point that even Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended.
The pair also share their son Otto, 4, and Kynaston, who has a background in advertising, previously worked for Kyle’s company, King Kyle.
The pair were close mates for years before getting together, and Kyle said he hated reading the “terrible comments” about his wife after his radio show was scrapped.
The shock jock did concede that he understood he was fair game, as he is a public figure, but he felt his family life should be off-limits.
He also argued that people who critique his marriage always claim not to care about him, but if you’re commenting, you clearly do.
“If I don’t care about something that is in the press, I don’t read it; I certainly don’t comment about something that I don’t care about,” he said.
It’s also worth noting that Kynaston, unlike her famous husband, prefers to live a private life, and even her Instagram account is private.

Kyle’s life was turned upside down this year, when his radio show was canned in March, which saw not just his lucrative contract ripped up, but also his relationship with Jackie O fall apart.
What followed was months of media scrutiny, and both long-term co-hosts launched separate legal cases against their former employer, ARN.
Kyle settled for $12 million to get back to broadcasting and has since created his own subscriber-based platform Kyle Sandilands Live.
Jackie O’s legal case with ARN has not been settled, and the trial is now set to begin in April 2027.
