Not-for-profit organisation Cycling Without Age is expanding its routes, with a new one set to begin on Monday, November 2, between Mullaloo Surf Lifesaving Club and Ocean Reef Marina.

CWA provides free community rides on trishaw eBikes for older people and those with mobility issues.

It aims to recreate the feeling of riding a bike while being out in nature and connecting with the community.

CWA marketing officer Joanna Calder said this new route was designed to expand the organisation’s reach in the northern suburbs.

“The area around Ocean Reef Marina has been closed for quite a while, so we wanted to take passengers along that journey so they could experience the new developments,” she said.

“Going from Mullaloo to Ocean Reef was a natural progression in our coastal ride options.”

Ms Calder said passengers could expect to experience “the wind in their hair”, but the highlight of any ride was always the connection it creates with others.

“We give our passengers a horn and ask them to help our pilot, the person riding the trishaw,” she said.

“They toot at anyone along the path, and that seems to bring a lot of joy for the passenger using the horn and those who are on the path. It really brings a smile to everyone’s faces.”

In addition to the new route, CWA will add an extra day at Quinns Beach from November 7, providing their service on Friday and Saturday.

The inaugural ride from Mullaloo to Ocean Reef will begin at 9.30am and finish at 11.30am.

Walk-ups are welcome, but passenger can also secure their spots in advance online.
