WESTFIELD — Indiana Pacer guard Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Fever‘s Caitlin Clark have depended on each other as both recover from injuries.

The Clark has missed 14 straight games with a right groin injury, her fourth muscle injury of the season. Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in June.

”It sucks that she’s been hurt for as long as she has. But just for us to be able to communicate even in our recovery, we lift at the same time, so it’s just us two in the weight room,” Haliburton told reporters Saturday. “We spend a lot of time together. It’s good to have each other to lean on in a time like right now.”

Haliburton said, “It’s very important” to have someone to talk to during this time. Haliburton added that his relationship with Clark has grown outside of basketball, but said the two can relate to how defenses guard them on the court.

“Our offensive (and) defensive issues are the same sometimes. Everything is really similar between us,” Haliburton said.

The Pacers have ruled out Haliburton for the 2025-2026 NBA season. The Fever have eight games remaining on their schedule and are sixth in league standings. On Sunday, reporters asked Fever coach Stephanie White if she anticipates Clark returning by the end of the regular season.

“That’s the hope. The hope is that she’s back,” White replied.

At practice Thursday, White talked about Clark’s desire to get back on the court.

“It’s been really frustrating,” White said. “I mean, Caitlin wants to play, you know, she’s a competitor. She just wants to be on the floor. She just wants to play basketball. She’s in the mindset that she’s hungry, right, that she wants to be out there, and she wants to be with her team, and she’s working her butt off to get back in those situations. I think each time you have a tweak, or each time you have something else, it’s frustrating.”
