Beginning in 2027, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and Texas Junior Golf Tour will operate as the Arnold Palmer Junior Golf Tour, under a partnership announced Tuesday between Bolt Ventures, Arnold Palmer Enterprises and the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation.
Bolt Ventures, the family office of David Blitzer, bought both tours earlier this year. Blitzer’s sports portfolio already runs from the Cleveland Guardians to Real Salt Lake to the IPL’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and now it includes a year-round junior schedule of nearly 400 tournaments for boys and girls 8 to 18. The first event is Jan. 2-3 at ChampionsGate in Orlando.
“Our goal with the Arnold Palmer Junior Golf Tour is simple: to create more opportunities for young people and their families to experience the positive benefits of golf, both on and off the course,” Blitzer said.
The tour will pitch three things to families: affordable tournaments, a clearer path to college golf and a heavier emphasis on how kids carry themselves. That last piece borrows from the Arnold Palmer Cup, the elite college event where conduct factors into the experience alongside scores. The junior tour will use a character program built by the Palmer Foundation and Wake Forest University.
“Mr. Palmer was a fierce competitor who was well known for aggressive play and a never-quit attitude, but above all his wins and golf accomplishments, people talk most about his character and charisma,” said Joshua Press, the tour’s CEO. “And that is the cornerstone of our tour’s message.”
Those accomplishments include 62 PGA Tour wins and seven major championships, but Palmer’s broader legacy came from opening the game to everyday people.
Amy Palmer Saunders, Arnold’s daughter and chair of the Palmer Foundation, put it in family terms. “Beyond competition, my father believed that golf was about bringing people together, treating others with respect and creating opportunities,” she said.
Cost is the other piece. Junior golf is expensive, and the foundation is launching the Palmer Foundation Player Access Award to help families cover it, both on the new tour and elsewhere. Details on how the award will work, and who qualifies, are expected in the coming months. The tour will be based in Ponte Vedra, Fla., and schedules and family packages are available at APJGT.com.
