TONY Quinn has let fly at Supercars regarding the omission of Queensland Raceway from the 2027 calendar.
Following significant renovations, the Ipswich track had returned from a five-year hiatus to be installed as the championship’s Sprint Cup decider for 2025 and ’26.
But with Phillip Island reuniting with Supercars next year as MotoGP departs, it had long been rumoured that QR was at risk of losing out – and indeed that has panned out.
Circuit owner Tony Quinn expressed his disappointment at the situation, taking aim at Supercars and its ownership consortium RACE for selling out fans in favour of government dollars.
“Obviously we’re disappointed, because we have invested millions of dollars into our venue which is truly fit-for-purpose now,” he told V8 Sleuth.

“I mean, I was at Sandown last weekend and it’s a disgrace. They’ve spent nothing for 30 years and yet because the Victorian government, who are near-bankrupt I think, sees fit to pay the V8s to go…
“The V8s, they claim they’re all about the fans and the sport but in truth they’re all about government funding and if they don’t get government funding, they don’t come and play. It’s as simple as that.
“They’ve abandoned the heartland fans in southeast Queensland.”
Asked if he’d welcome Supercars back in future years, Quinn replied: “I don’t think they’ll be back for a while.
“I think how they operate is they try to stitch up things on three-to-five-year deals and I perhaps foolishly didn’t stitch them up here (for a longer term).
“The good thing is that Queensland Raceway is a busy enough track anyway, so we’re not going to suffer financially at all.
“I just feel sad that the heartland fans that have supported the V8s, they’re the guys that buy the merchandise and the hats and everything else, they’re going to be shafted.
“It’s nothing to do with us. It’s purely and simply because the V8s want government help.
Supercars Finals & Team Orders | The Undercut
THE Supercars Finals have landed for 2026, leaving plenty to unpack in this week’s episode of The Undercut!
“I mean, I never ever ran a business that gets government help. Never. So I don’t actually understand the logic of being able to call yourself a business when really you’re just getting government money. It doesn’t make sense to me.
“I just think it’s shortsighted and let’s be honest, RACE, whether they’re the rightful owners, I don’t know, but they’re not going to be there for much longer.
“They’ll sell it and somebody else will come in and try to make a better job of it, I guess.”
Supercars is due to finally announce its 14-round 2027 calendar tomorrow, following protracted Teams Racing Charter negotiations.
