Australia is in the middle of an intensely busy period of red-ball cricket.

Having now completed the home series against Bangladesh (drawn 1-1) and the away series against South Africa (lost 2-1), the Aussies are set play at least 15 Test Matches between the start of December 2026 and August 2027.

If they’re able to force their way back into the top two of the ICC World Test Championship rankings by the end of March, that number will go up to 16 Tests with the Final to be played ahead of the 2027 Ashes Series in England.

The Sporting News outlines everything you need to know about Australia’s upcoming Test schedule.

When does Australia play its next Test match?

Australia’s next Test match is the First Test against New Zealand which begins in Perth on Wednesday, December 9.

What is Australia’s upcoming Test schedule for 2026-27?

Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand are touring Australia this summer and will play four Tests in a month with matches in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. All four Tests against the Kiwis will be played as day matches and there will be no Test held in Brisbane.

Following the New Zealand home series, the Australians will travel to India for a gruelling away series competing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with five Tests to be played in just six weeks.

The Australian Test squad will then return home for the one-off 150th Anniversary Test Match against England at the MCG from 11-15 March 2027.

After a three-month break from red-ball cricket Australia will then head to England for the five-Test Ashes Tour starting in June 2027, and potentially also the Final of the ICC World Test Championship.
