Simon & Schuster Australia (S&S) has acquired world rights for the memoir On My Own Terms by Adam Reynolds, via agent Steve Gillis.

According to the publisher, the memoir tracks Reynolds’ life from the streets of Redfern through his time with the South Sydney Rabbitohs to captaining the Brisbane Broncos.

‘Growing up in Morehead Street, just a stone’s throw from Redfern Oval, Adam experienced firsthand the challenges and close-knit community of a working-class area known for its passionate love of rugby league,’ said the publisher. ‘As he navigates the highs and lows of his career, including a controversial exit from the Rabbitohs that outraged fans, Adam reflects on the deep sense of pride and resilience that shaped him. For the first time ever, Adam opens up about his family’s secret battle that nearly ended his marriage, how his coach Wayne Bennett helped save it, and reveals the truth behind that infamous fight with a teammate on the eve of flying to Vegas.’

Before debuting in the NRL in 2012, Reynolds’ rugby league career began at Matraville Sports High School and with junior footy clubs St Peters JRLFC and Alexandria Rovers. Captain and halfback for the Brisbane Broncos, Reynolds has received representative honours for the NRL All Stars, NSW City, the Prime Minister’s XIII, and playing for New South Wales in the 2016 State of Origin series.

He said, ‘I wanted to write this memoir now, while I’m still in the game, because there’s so much I’ve learned on and off the field that I think is worth sharing. It’s not just about the goals, but the setbacks, the doubts, the moments people don’t see. I’ve faced challenges that have tested me in every way, and by opening up, I hope to entertain those who’ve followed my journey and maybe even inspire someone facing their own battles. This is my story so far, and maybe a glimpse of what’s still to come.’

S&S nonfiction publisher Emma Nolan said, ‘Adam’s memoir isn’t just a story about rugby league, it’s a raw, honest and deeply human journey through triumph, heartbreak and redemption. From the heart of Redfern to the biggest stage in the NRL, Adam opens up about his story with courage and heart. This is the untold story fans have been waiting for.’

S&S plans to release On My Own Terms on 28 October 2025.
