The outlet reports that The Waterfront seemed to be a strong contender for a second season thanks to “solid” viewership, including five weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 for English-language shows on the global chart. The show also performed better than the series Ransom Canyon, which was recently renewed for a second season.

Deadline notes that Netflix will often taken a show’s “completion rate” into consideration. This is the rate of people who have finished all episodes of the show after starting a season. Completion rates are not made public, so we only have been able to see the overall viewership numbers to gauge the success of the show.
