Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi may be living the quiet life in the UK, but DeGeneres’ former co-workers are still revealing a lot about their time with the former talk show host. An inside source who worked on the Ellen DeGeneres Show recently told DailyMail that, along with the continual allegations of poor behavior towards staff, she allegedly had a major dislike for men.

“We went through a lot of male employees just in general,” they said, claiming DeGeneres went through nine stage managers in just one season. “We had a feeling she really didn’t like guys.
Why? Seemingly because DeGeneres was upset if male staffers “were ever caught in conversation with Portia.”

For those who don’t know, DeGeneres and Rossi met back in 2001 at a Rock the Vote concert. However, they didn’t get together until 2004. When they reconnected in 2004, they split with their respective partners, and they started dating. The pair later got engaged, and married in Aug 2008.
Before DeGeneres, Rossi was with director Francesca Gregorini from 2000 until she got together with DeGeneres. And before that, she dated actress Guinevere Turner from 1998 to 2000. The last time she was dating a man was with documentary filmmaker Mel Metcalfe, with whom she got married in 1996, but divorced three years later. (She previously said it was for a green card, but it didn’t pan out, and they did have a wonderful friendship!)
Since then, she’s only been with women, and even publicly came out as a lesbian years later. Even in her book, Unbearable Lightness, she talked about when she realized she was gay: at 18 years old. She said, “The thing that made me think I wasn’t [heterosexual] was I developed very strong feelings for my best friends, for my girl friends, that were stronger than friendship. And I had a series of mini-heartbreaks throughout my teens because my fantasy of what life could be like with my best friend wasn’t shared with my best friend. My best friend wanted to get married to a man and have kids and I just wanted to be with them. And that’s when I thought something was definitely different about me. So really it took until I was about 18 when I realized I have to date other lesbians if I was ever going to fulfill that fantasy.”
