The Cronulla Sharks are reportedly poised to reach an agreement with Blayke Brailey on a contract extension that will see him remain at the club until the end of 2030.
The 26-year-old has played 159-games for the club and will be rewarded for his efforts with the captaincy duties during their finals campaign after Cam McInnes ruptured his ACL a fortnight ago.
The AAP is reporting that Brailey and his management had entered negotiations with Cronulla hoping for a five-year deal.

Instead, powerbrokers at the Sharks countered with a three-year offer, before a middle-ground was reached and a four-year contract had been verbally agreed upon.
“It’s definitely getting close, which is great,” said Brailey.
“We obviously wanted to move closer and close that gap. I know it definitely is close and when that day comes, I’m going to be super excited.
“It’s no secret how I feel about this place. And I know the club knows how I feel about the future here and where I want to be.”
Growing up as a junior footballer in the Shire, Brailey was one of the most highly touted local products to come through Cronulla’s pathways system.
The hype around him was such that the club moved his older brother Jayden on to the Knights in 2019, making way for the young prodigy.
Now, Brailey will look to repay the faith that the Sharks have shown in him by leading them to their second premiership in club history.
