{"id":10031,"date":"2025-07-21T04:42:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T04:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/10031\/"},"modified":"2025-07-21T04:42:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T04:42:11","slug":"flailing-momentum-halts-fbm-klci-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/10031\/","title":{"rendered":"Flailing momentum halts FBM KLCI recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI struggled to maintain a positive trajectory on Monday as investors awaited fresh buying leads to take the stock index higher.<\/p>\n<p>At the start of trading, the benchmark was a slight 1.6 points higher at 1,526.46 to suggest the recovery was running low on momentum.<\/p>\n<p>However, within the first 15 minutes of trading, the index had turned negative, dropping 3.04 points to 1,522.82.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While daily technical momentum and trend indicators on the FBM KLCI are showing signs of a rebound, the recovery appears fragile and may struggle to gain traction as bearish medium-term signals point to further consolidation ahead,&#8221; said TA Securities in its market commentary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Investors are also likely to remain sidelined as they monitor upcoming earnings results in search of fresh buying catalysts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The research firm said there was also lingering uncertainty on the external front over the US Federal Reserve&#8217;s interest rate trajectory and ongoing trade tensions are also expected to dampen market sentiment in the near term.<\/p>\n<p>However, TA Securities highlighted some stocks that could see bargain-hunting interest this week include key index heavyweights and lower liners in the rubber glove, construction, gaming, banking and energy sectors such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/business\/marketwatch\/stocks\/?qcounter=HARTA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hartalega<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/charts.thestar.com.my\/?s=HARTA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"go-chart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/chart.png\"\/><\/a>, Kossan, Gamuda, Gadang, Genting, Maybank, Dialog and DNEX.<\/p>\n<p>On the price table, Sunway dropped 28 sen to RM4.78, Gamuda slid six sen to RM5.27 and IHH shed four sen to RM6.53.<\/p>\n<p>Other leading laggards included Sunway Construciton slumping 56 sne ot RM5.42 and MPI dropping 42 sne to RM19.50.<\/p>\n<p>There was some price recovery in banks, including Maybank up four sen to RM9.56, Hong Leong Bank climbing six sen to RM19.42 and RHB gaining one sen to RM6.21.<\/p>\n<p>Actives included NexG up one sen to 50.5 sen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/business\/marketwatch\/stocks\/?qcounter=PHARMA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pharmaniaga<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/charts.thestar.com.my\/?s=PHARMA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"go-chart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/chart.png\"\/><\/a> rising three sen to 18.5 sen and Silver Ridge gaining 2.5 sen to 22.5 sen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI struggled to maintain a positive trajectory on Monday as investors awaited fresh buying&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":10032,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[64,63,11819,99,11821,11820,171,5473,1610],"class_list":["post-10031","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-markets","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-bursa-malaysia","tag-business","tag-equities","tag-klci","tag-markets","tag-stock","tag-trading"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10031","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10031"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10031\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/10032"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10031"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10031"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10031"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
