Oscar Piastri has received further support in his bid for a maiden Formula 1 world championship.<\/p>\n
Piastri currently heads the Drivers\u2019 Championship by nine points over his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, with 10 races remaining in F1 2025.<\/p>\n

Though his points advantage has been eroded away in recent races, Piastri remains favourite for the title in the eyes of ex-F1 racer turned commentator Christian Danner.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is less prone to making mistakes,\u201d the German said of Piastri in an interview with German publication ran. \u201cNot only has he proven this, it is also evident in his manner: calm, thoughtful, focused. He hardly ever loses his cool.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, the pendulum is clearly swinging in his direction. But Norris\u2019 fans need not be sad. It\u2019s so close that it will probably only be decided in the last race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Norris has won three of the last four races as McLaren has locked out the top two steps of the podium throughout that stretch.<\/p>\n
It is a run that has helped catapult McLaren into a virtually unassailable position in the Constructors\u2019 Championship, and narrowed the drivers\u2019 competition to a two-horse race.<\/p>\n
Mathematically, only Oliver Bearman, Franco Colapinto, and Jack Doohan are out of title contention, though in reality it\u2019s a straight shoot-out between the two McLaren drivers.<\/p>\n
Norris led the championship in the early races before a strong run of four wins in five races left Piastri at the top of the standings.<\/p>\n
But despite the Brit having built up a head of steam of sorts ahead of the summer break, Danner believes he\u2019ll fall short of his ultimate goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuccess is always the best means to more success,\u201d he said in reference to Norris\u2019 current run of results.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it must also be said that Norris has had a little more luck in recent races than Piastri, whether at Silverstone or Budapest. And luck doesn\u2019t stay with one driver forever.<\/p>\n
\u201cPsychologically, the momentum may be with Norris at the moment, but that doesn\u2019t bother Piastri at all. He\u2019s sticking to his style.\u201d<\/p>\n
The McLaren duo are vastly different characters.<\/p>\n
While Piastri is calm, considered, and resilient, Norris has demonstrated time and again how he wears his heart on his sleeve.<\/p>\n
That has prompted 1980 world champion Alan Jones to describe the nine-time race winner as \u201cweak\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s coming out with all this nonsense that he\u2019s got a bit of a mental thing, he\u2019s dwelling on some of the problems he\u2019s had rather than the positives,\u201d said the Australian.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they start talking all that nonsense, you know you\u2019ve got them.\u201d<\/p>\n
