The Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker noted that he and Jordanna, 32, didn\u2019t have a \u201cbasic step\u201d when it came to pool safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t even have a gate that was protecting the pool, so that was the main thing. We had door sensors but we got annoyed [by] the kids going in and out all the time, so we ended up turning the door sensors off,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \n\t\t\tAn unspeakable loss. Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Shaquil Barrett\u2018s 2-year-old daughter, Arrayah, died after drowning in the family\u2019s swimming pool. The Tampa Bay Times reported on Sunday, April 30, that officers arrived at the NFL athlete\u2019s home shortly before 9:30 a.m. local time in response to a child falling into a pool. The toddler was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n Shaquil explained that the morning of the incident<\/a> in 2023, the gate leading to the pool and the door was unlocked \u2014 and the door chimes were off.<\/p>\n \u201cWe just didn\u2019t know that the life vests and the flotation devices made it a false sense of security for the babies, thinking they could swim now because every time they\u2019re in the pool, they have the life vests on, life jackets on or flotation device,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019ve been doing that all the time now.\u201d<\/p>\n Shaquil noted that he and Jordanna have been \u201cpreparing for the worst case scenario\u201d by getting their kids up to speed with pool safety. The outlet also encouraged parents not to leave toys in the pool \u2014 something Jordanna agrees with.<\/p>\n \u201cI think a key too, is to put all swim toys away,\u201d she said. \u201cI think that brings children to want to go to the pool, to want to have fun and they see all the fun things.
