A Bosnian influencer faces jail time after performing a pole dance on a Turkish flagpole in Cappadocia.<\/p>\n
A gymnastics trainer from Bosnia known online as blittem\u00a0shared the video with her thousands of Instagram followers.<\/p>\n
The short clip showed her twirling around the Turkish flagpole at the historic Uchisar Castle, captioned \u201cBosnia meets Turkey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Authorities say the act \u201cdenigrated the national symbol,\u201d with charges that could bring up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n
The video was filmed at the ancient fortress carved into volcanic rock and quickly attracted waves of backlash.<\/p>\n
Commenters accused her of showing \u201cno manners or respect\u201d with comments like \u201cstraight to jail\u201d and \u201cgirl respect the flag and country you\u2019re visiting!\u201d<\/p>\n
The Nevsehir Governor\u2019s Office confirmed on August 21 that she is under investigation for insulting the flag on two counts.<\/p>\n
Turkish politician Emre Caliskan slammed the act, calling the red and white crescent and star flag \u201cour honour, the apple of our eye.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cAnyone who lacks this awareness must be warned and immediately intervened.\u201d<\/p>\n
