American Ben Shelton<\/a>, the No 6 seed, advanced to the third round of the US Open<\/a> by beating Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta<\/a> 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in New York on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Shelton, ranked No 6 and a semi-finalist here in 2023, will play Frenchman Adrian Mannarino<\/a> next at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for a spot in the fourth round.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, the 22-year-old American won against Peruvian qualifier Ignacio Buse (6-3, 6-2, 6-4).<\/p>\n

Carreno Busta, ranked No 137, defeated qualifier Pablo Llamas Ruiz (7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-2) in the first round of the tournament.<\/p>\n
