{"id":1025,"date":"2025-07-17T18:14:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T18:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/1025\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T18:14:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T18:14:08","slug":"ekitike-reveals-transfer-preference-as-reds-tell-frankfurt-they-will-pay-more-than-newcastle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/1025\/","title":{"rendered":"Ekitike reveals transfer preference as Reds tell Frankfurt they will &#8216;pay more than Newcastle&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Liverpool have told Eintracht Frankfurt that they will \u2018pay more\u2019 for Hugo Ekitike than Newcastle United, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds and the Magpies are both looking to sign a new centre-forward this summer with Ekitike climbing to the top of both their lists in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/liverpool\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> are looking to sign a replacement for Darwin Nunez with the Uruguay international expected to leave Anfield in the summer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-set-darwin-nunez-asking-price-as-potential-buyers-napoli-agree-osimhen-sale\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and Napoli are keen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Newcastle are looking to fill the hole left by Callum Wilson, who departed on a free transfer this summer, it would also give Eddie Howe the possibility of playing two up top.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool have been in contact to buy Alexander Isak from Newcastle this summer with the Reds set to go for Ekitike instead if they can\u2019t land the Sweden international.<\/p>\n<p>The Magpies have made it clear that Isak is not for sale and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-romano-advancing-today-ekitike-newcastle-isak-transfer-stance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported this morning<\/a> that Liverpool are now \u2018advancing\u2019 for Ekitike.<\/p>\n<p>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-defence-actually-worrying-mailbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mailbox:\u00a0Liverpool defence is \u2018actually worrying\u2019 amid \u00a3150m Isak chase<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Romano wrote on\u00a0X\u00a0on Thursday morning: \u2018Reports on Hugo Ekitike deal advancing yesterday with Newcastle are not confirmed at this stage. Newcastle last bid was rejected on Monday by Eintracht and no new proposal has been sent by then. No advances\u2026 and Liverpool, on it. More follows.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Before later adding: \u2018Understand Liverpool are advancing today in club to club talks with Eintracht for Hugo Ekitike. Eintracht feeling that Ekitike would like to join Liverpool.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool legend John Aldridge has revealed his thoughts on the Reds\u2019 pursuit of a new striker with Isak the \u201cperfect addition\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Aldridge told BetBrain: \u201cLiverpool have some thinking to do in regard to the centre forward position. If the club are going to replace Darwin Nunez, who are they going to bring in? Will Florian Wirtz play as a false nine? For me, Alexander\u00a0Isak\u00a0is the player on everyone\u2019s mind and would be the perfect addition up front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019d be a superb signing, but\u00a0I can\u2019t see Newcastle letting him go, and if they did, it would be for a huge fee. I don\u2019t know what the club\u2019s plans are, but they need to get something sorted before the start of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiverpool also can\u2019t allow Luiz Diaz\u2019 contract to run down and him leave for free \u2013 \u2018no player is bigger than the club\u2019 as they say. There\u2019s so much happening at Liverpool right now; they don\u2019t need another saga with a player\u2019s contract \u2013 we all saw what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
