Since its inception in 1988, the house of Maison Margiela<\/a> has steered clear of featuring celebrities in its campaigns \u2014 that is, until now. On Thursday, Miley Cyrus<\/a> was unveiled as the new star of the brand\u2019s autumn-winter 2025 Avant-Premi\u00e8re Collection in a series of \u201cpainterly portraits\u201d shot by Paolo Roversi.<\/p>\n

Margiela describes the shoot as \u201cstripped-back,\u201d with Cyrus \u201cimmersed in the core codes and archetypal expressions of the maison,\u201d according to a press release. A few images feature the singer\u2019s body slathered in white paint, which aims to pay \u201chomage to the Maison\u2019s white-overpaint bianchetto technique introduced in 1989\u201d that was originally used on furniture in the brand\u2019s studio.<\/p>\n

Cyrus has worn Margiela looks before, including to promote her single \u201cUsed to Be Young\u201d in 2023, at the Grammys in 2024, and at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2025, but this particular moment seems a lot more \u2026 intense. \u201cThe nudes by Paolo are so iconic and signature to his art,\u201d Cyrus said, per the press release. \u201cStanding naked for a fashion campaign felt major, all I wore was body paint and the signature painted Tabi boots. In that moment, Margiela and I became one.\u201d Wow!<\/p>\n

The collection revolves around \u201csaving and salvaging\u201d clothes and the notion that \u201cour most cherished staples show significant signs of use.\u201d They\u2019re crinkled, torn up, mended, and handed down through generations, and the techniques used to create the collection reflect that. The Tabis worn by Cyrus, for example, were molded \u201clike a timeworn shoe bent into shape by stomping out cigarettes.\u201d Sounds like a perfect match.<\/p>\n
