SBS\u2019s Friday-Saturday drama “The Winning Try” (written by Im Jin-a, directed by Jang Young-seok) follows an unpredictable, oddball coach Joo Garam and Hanyang High\u2019s perennial last-place rugby team as they charge toward a championship \u2015 with laughs and heart along the way. The series has climbed as high as 7.4% in nationwide ratings, with Episode 9 peaking at 2.96% in the key 20?49 demo. It also ranked No. 2 in the social media buzz category on Good Data Corporation\u2019s FUNdex for the week of Aug. 18?24, proving the show is heating up in both ratings and chatter as it nears the finish line.<\/p>\n
Episode 10 ended with a jolt as Coach Joo Garam (Yoon Kye-sang) publicly revealed he has myasthenia gravis, casting doubt on his future on the sidelines just days before Nationals.<\/p>\n
With only two episodes left, production released new stills on Aug. 29 of Hanyang High marching into the big tournament. Captain Yoon Sung-jun (played by Kim Yohan) locks eyes with his teammates, steely and all business. The smile is gone \u2015 game day has arrived. After a shoulder injury left his status in doubt, simply being cleared to play is a lifeline for Sung-jun, and his gaze telegraphs a fighter\u2019s resolve to chase the win.<\/p>\n
The rest of the squad mirrors that intensity, trading determined looks as their heartbeat rises in unison. Long dismissed as bottom dwellers, Hanyang High found true teamwork under Garam and has transformed before our eyes. Now the question is whether that rebuilt chemistry will shine on the national stage \u2015 and whether Garam and his boys can script a miracle ending with a championship run.<\/p>\n
