{"id":105734,"date":"2025-08-30T02:36:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T02:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/105734\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T02:36:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T02:36:07","slug":"kiefer-sherwood-changes-agents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/105734\/","title":{"rendered":"Kiefer Sherwood Changes Agents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a breakout showing last season, Canucks winger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sherwki01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-08-29_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> is one of the more intriguing under-the-radar potential 2026 unrestricted free agents.\u00a0 Whenever Vancouver talks about an extension with him, however, they\u2019ll now be dealing with a new agent.\u00a0 Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK and The Athletic reports (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DhaliwalSports\/status\/1961456539040190609\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>) that Sherwood has changed agencies and is now represented by Wasserman after RSG Hockey handled the deal that landed him with the Canucks last summer.<\/p>\n<p>After being more of a role player in Nashville in the first few seasons of his career, the 30-year-old became a regular for the first time in 2023-24 with the Predators.\u00a0 That season, he put up 10 goals, 17 assists, and 234 hits which made him an interesting target heading into free agency.\u00a0 As a result, he was able to land a two-year, $3MM contract Vancouver despite his limited track record.<\/p>\n<p>But it turns out that he had another gear to get to.\u00a0 Last season, Sherwood beat those personal bests from the year before, tallying 19 goals, 21 assists, and a whopping 462 hits, the latter number representing an NHL record since the stat started officially being tracked in 2007-08.\u00a0 Notably, his playing time jumped to a little under 15 minutes per night.\u00a0 Instead of being the fourth liner he had been earlier, he was now regularly playing in Vancouver\u2019s middle six.<\/p>\n<p>That has Sherwood well-positioned to earn a fair-sized raise on his next contract.\u00a0 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1WuCp8WHgCaTAijtVsww-C-1qmdBdNBiTbDIPdJr_Fwo\/edit?gid=1044038469#gid=1044038469\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AFP Analytics projected<\/a> a three-year deal worth around $2.75MM earlier this summer if he were to sign an extension now while another performance like this next season could push the asking price closer to the $4MM mark next summer.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unknown if discussions have already started between the Canucks and Sherwood with this agent change being a move to try to get discussions rekindled or if it\u2019s just planning ahead for talks later on.\u00a0 Either way, Sherwood is going to be heading for a nice raise between now and next summer with a new representative involved in those talks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After a breakout showing last season, Canucks winger Kiefer Sherwood is one of the more intriguing under-the-radar potential&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":105735,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[556],"tags":[64,63,76001,575,85,2371],"class_list":["post-105734","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nhl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-kiefer-sherwood","tag-nhl","tag-sports","tag-vancouver-canucks"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/105734","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=105734"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/105734\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/105735"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=105734"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=105734"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=105734"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
