Adelaide 36ers player Ben Griscti is in a stable condition after being injured when a backboard collapsed on top of him.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the club confirmed reports that the 23-year-old was injured when a teammate’s dunk broke the backboard and brought the structure down during a training session on Saturday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The incident happened at the AIS Arena in Canberra as the 36ers were preparing to face the Tasmania JackJumpers in the pre-season NBL Blitz tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n
CODE Sports reported that Griscti was taken to the hospital in an ambulance roughly two hours after the incident.<\/p>\n
A photograph taken by Herald Sun journalist Michael Randall showed the downed hoop, which reportedly fell on Griscti.<\/p>\n

The NBL released a statement late on Saturday, saying Griscti was in a stable condition, and the scheduled matches in the pre-season competition would continue on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n
“The National Basketball League (NBL) is aware of a training incident involving Adelaide 36ers’ player, Benjamin Griscti at AIS Arena this afternoon,” it said.<\/p>\n
“Griscti is in a stable condition in hospital.<\/p>\n
“The circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated.<\/p>\n
