{"id":106605,"date":"2025-08-30T11:14:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T11:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/106605\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T11:14:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T11:14:10","slug":"jacques-villeneuve-tells-cadillac-what-they-need-from-valtteri-bottas-after-he-lost-interest-at-sauber","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/106605\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacques Villeneuve tells Cadillac what they need from Valtteri Bottas after he &#8216;lost interest&#8217; at Sauber"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Valtteri Bottas\u2019s most recent stint as a full-time driver in F1 didn\u2019t go to plan, largely due to the fact that the competitiveness of the Sauber C44 was non-existent.<\/p>\n<p>Bottas registered a full season with no points, finishing 22nd out of the 24 drivers who entered a race during the 2024 F1 season.<\/p>\n<p>The 10-time Grand Prix winner had to deal with a car that lacked pace in all areas and was sensitive to every nook and cranny that appeared on circuits throughout the year. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/news\/valtteri-bottas-now-shares-the-biggest-problem-hes-had-to-deal-with-at-sauber-this-season\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bottas had to deal with these issues<\/a> and lost his drive at the team as they looked towards a completely new line-up for the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/news\/giedo-van-der-garde-stunned-by-valtteri-bottas-very-negative-comments-about-sauber-f1-management\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bottas made surprising comments about Sauber leadership<\/a> towards the end of his tenure at the team, which would have made an impact on him watching the 2025 F1 season from the sidelines as a reserve driver for his former team, Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/teams\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-general-motors-cadillac-f1-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">All to know about General Motors\u2019 Cadillac F1 team from engine to drivers<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jacques Villeneuve has warned Cadillac that they need to extract the Mercedes version of Valtteri Bottas<\/p>\n<p>Having been a part of the Mercedes set-up since the December prior to the current campaign, former F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve hopes that reuniting with his former team has had a positive effect on the Finnish driver\u2019s motivation to compete with the very best drivers in motorsport.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Sky Sports F1\u2019s coverage of FP1 at the Dutch Grand Prix, Villeneuve was asked if Cadillac had made the right call in appointing Bottas to one of their seats for 2026, to which he responded (11:21 29\/08), \u201cThe experience is important when you\u2019re a new team. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2187618861-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"F1 Grand Prix of Qatar - Sprint &amp; Qualifying\" class=\"wp-image-78677\" \/>Photo by Bryn Lennon \u2013 Formula 1\/Formula 1 via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there are different kinds of experiences: good experiences, and bad experiences. Experience doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re quick or great. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Bottas won against Lewis, and he was very active in moving the Mercedes car forward. It was hard for him at Sauber. I think he had just lost interest. So if you take the Bottas of Mercedes, then great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Sauber team principal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/news\/cadillac-may-regret-signing-valtteri-bottas-when-they-hear-about-his-internal-image-at-sauber\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andreas Seidl believes Bottas didn\u2019t deliver enough<\/a> during his time at the team.
