<\/p>\n Email Link<\/p>\n \n \u201cTen different looks and my looks all kill,\u201d Cardi B raps on her song, \u201cMoney.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n By swapping wigs and serving candor, the Grammy-winning artist seems to have done just that during her testimony this week in a civil trial in Los Angeles County.\n <\/p>\n \n The case stems from a 2018 incident involving plaintiff Emani Ellis, a former building security guard who has sued Cardi B for alleged assault during an interaction between the women in the hallway of a medical office where Ellis was employed.\n <\/p>\n \n The artist, who was pregnant at the time and on her way to see her obstetrician, has denied the allegation. Ellis is seeking punitive and other damages that include medical expenses for a cut to her face.\n <\/p>\n \n Cardi B\u2019s courtroom testimony, which has been live-streamed<\/a> by Court TV and recirculated across social media, has brought new attention to the 7-year-old case.\n <\/p>\n \n Fans of Cardi B are far from surprised, as she\u2019s known to be slick with her words both on and off the microphone.\n <\/p>\n \n Here are three exchanges during the trial that have caught attention online. <\/a>\n <\/p>\n \n While being questioned about their interaction, Cardi B was asked to testify about the language she directed toward Ellis, in particular \u201cthe F-word.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n She didn\u2019t hesitate to recall what she said.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cI said b***h get the f**k out my face. Why are you in my face?\u201d Cardi B testified. \u201cWhy are you recording me? Ain\u2019t you supposed to be security?\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n She appeared confused when she was asked to repeat the words to Ellis.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cYou want me to say it to her face?\u201d Cardi B responded.\n <\/p>\n \n Her attorney raised an objection to that request, which was sustained by the judge.\n <\/p>\n See Cardi B take the stand in her civil suit\n <\/p>\n See Cardi B take the stand in her civil suit<\/p>\n \n The hip-hop star testified that though she and Ellis exchanged words in 2018, their interaction did not get physical.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cShe couldn\u2019t get a scratch from me because I didn\u2019t touch her,\u201d Cardi said on the stand in her second day of testimony.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cShe didn\u2019t touch me,\u201d Cardi said. \u201cShe was going to touch me, but she didn\u2019t get to touch me.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Cardi B was then-four months pregnant with her first child, daughter Kulture, whom she shares with fellow rapper, Offset.\n <\/p>\n \n When asked if she was disabled by the pregnancy, Cardi B had a quick response.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cAt that moment, uh, when you\u2019re pregnant, I\u2019m very disabled,\u201d she responded. \u201cYou want me to tell you things I can\u2019t do?\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n That answer elicited laughter from some of the people in the courtroom.\n <\/p>\n \n After asking Cardi B if she had \u201cblack hair, blonde hair or different color hair\u201d on the date of the alleged incident, Ellis\u2019s attorney asked about her \u201creal hair.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cYesterday you had black hair, short hair. Today it\u2019s blonde and long. Which one is your real hair? Or are they both real?\u201d the lawyer asked during his cross-examination.\n <\/p>\n \n Cardi B laughed before she responded, \u201cThey\u2019re wigs.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cOkay. Sorry, I didn\u2019t know that. It\u2019s a good wig today, then,\u201d the lawyer replied.\n <\/p>\n \n Cardi B has at times appeared exasperated with the line of questioning.\n <\/p>\n \n When asked if she was \u201cat a high level of anger\u201d when she and Ellis were allegedly arguing and \u201cchest to chest,\u201d Cardi B testified that she was more at \u201ca high level of concern.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \t\t\u201cYou\u2019re not disabled, right!?\u201d #CardiB Defense Objects During Intense Questioning \n She explained why she was \u201cvery concerned\u201d when asked by Ellis\u2019s attorney.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cBecause I\u2019m pregnant and this girl is about to f**king beat my a**,\u201d Cardi B testified. <\/a>\u201cHello?\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n The trial is expected to resume next week.\n <\/p>\n
