Jack de Belin avoided suspension but Manly forward Toafofoa Sipley wasn\u2019t so lucky after the pair came under scrutiny for dangerous tackles in the Dragons\u2019 40-24 loss to the Sea Eagles<\/a>. <\/p>\n

De Belin played his 251st game for the Dragons against the Sea Eagles and Shane Flanagan feared it could be his last before he moves to the Eels under Jason Ryles next season. <\/p>\n

In the 60th minute de Belin came down on the back of Sipley\u2019s leg and was placed on report, although he wasn\u2019t sin-binned like Sipley was for a similar incident. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always concerns when you\u2019re put on report, I only looked at it once, I\u2019ll need a couple of angles,\u201d Flanagan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cJack is a really good defender, his technique [means] he gets in there, and sometimes you get spat out the back. We\u2019ll have to have a look at it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NRL\u2019s match review committee had a look at it and cleared de Belin of any wrongdoing, not even charging him.<\/p>\n

Sipley, on the other hand, was hit with a three-game suspension for the grade two dangerous contact charge even with an early plea given it was his third and subsequent offence.<\/p>\n

He risks missing four games if he fights the charge and is found guilty.<\/p>\n

Flanagan was proud of his team to getting it back to a one try contest in the second half, but conceded his team got tired at the back end of the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cDisappointing in the end,\u201d Flanagan said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thought we fought back pretty well to get to 22-18 and then two last tackle tries, just they kicked out again. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe showed some signs there, but probably just a bit tight at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flanagan urged his team to learn how to ice try-scoring opportunities to build confidence in games after they failed to convert a Clint Gutherson break into a try. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to think that if we fought a little bit harder, we could have got some results,\u201d Flanagan said. <\/p>\n

\u201cGutho made a break there in the first half and if we scored a try there, we go up 12-6 and they go down the other end. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been like a bit of the story of the year for us, so we should have scored that try and go out 12-6 and be playing with some confidence, but we don\u2019t score that try and they go up the other end. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat wasn\u2019t the reason we won or lost tonight, but things like that we need to nail.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Dragons may go up against a full strength Panthers side next week and Flanagan wants his team to go out with their heads held high. <\/p>\n
