Donald Trump had folks wondering where he had been all week<\/a> heading into the weekend. <\/p>\n

Those folks are wondering no more, though.<\/p>\n

They found him on the golf course. And that has been a common theme for the president thus far in his second term. According to the website DidTrumpGolfToday.com<\/a> the outing at his course in Virginia marked the 56th day out of his first 224 in office that Trump has hit the links. That is a solid 25% of this term spent swinging the clubs. <\/p>\n

And the estimated taxpayer tab for that comes in at a whopping $78,400,000.<\/p>\n

To put that in perspective, midway through his first term, the president has already surpassed the midway point for his golf costs \u2014 $151.5 million \u2014 accumulated across all four years of his first term. <\/p>\n

The current total also does not include the $600,000 recently revealed that the Secret Service is spending on golf carts and portable toilets for Bedminster. The Independent reported that the agency<\/a> \u201csigned a pair of definitive contracts with Associate Golf Car Service of Poughkeepsie, New York and Restroom Resources LLC of Wrightstown, New Jersey,\u201d per federal records.<\/p>\n

And, yes, while Trump mostly golfs at his properties, the American taxpayer reportedly still foots the bill for the costs for him to play there.<\/p>\n

For those concerned about how much it costs for the president to play, the figures are from a 2019 Government Accountability Office report that examined Trump\u2019s first four trips to Mar-a-Lago during his first administration. You can see the report, here. <\/a>It calculated that each of those trips cost $3,383,250, and that was based on 2017 dollars meaning that the actual cost today is likely higher than the estimate.<\/p>\n
