Aston Villa are closing in on their first deadline day signing, but Unai Emery is not prepared to stop after Jadon Sancho.

The Villans have agreed to sign Sancho from Manchester United, and he is set to arrive at Villa Park on a season-long loan deal.

Although Emiliano Martinez is pushing to join Man United, the Sancho deal is not linked to a potential move to see the World Cup winner leave for Old Trafford.

Aston Villa are accelerating their transfer business on deadline day, with forward Evann Guessand standing as the only notable signing throughout the summer thus far.

Once Sancho is finalised, Unai Emery will turn his attention to another Englishman who finds himself facing an uncertain future at Liverpool.

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa are exploring a potential move to sign Harvey Elliott before the 7pm deadline.

TBR Football understands Liverpool want Elliott to remain at Anfield, but Arne Slot is willing to sanction a departure should the midfielder express a desire to leave for first-team football.

As widely reported, the Reds will accept a bid of £40 million if the deal includes a buy-back clause; interested parties would need to offer £50m without this clause.

Sources have informed TBR Football that Elliott would welcome a transfer should Liverpool agree a deal with a side willing to make him an immediate first-team starter.

The 22-year-old emerged as an important player under Jurgen Klopp but saw his minutes dramatically reduced during Arne Slot’s maiden season at Anfield.

With Jacob Ramsey completing a £42m move to Newcastle United, Aston Villa could move for Elliott as a like-for-like replacement – he fits the mould of an attacking midfielder who is also able to operate on the flanks.

Harvey Elliott would be the perfect signing for Aston Villa

Elliott had little opportunity to impress Slot last season, but his efforts for Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 campaign should not be overlooked.

He started the Reds’ last six Premier League fixtures while the side struggled with injuries and contributed one goal and five assists during that spell.

The midfielder also narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot and the Under-21 European Championships this summer, scoring the opening goal of the 3-2 win against Germany in the final.

With Sancho arriving to complement Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, Elliott could be the final piece of the puzzle to what could prove to be an exciting homegrown attacking unit for Aston Villa.

[9
11184,64,63,42098,50786,1613,85
post-110712","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-aston-villa","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-harvey-elliott","tag-jadon-sancho","tag-liverpool","tag-sports
["GET
