W\ufeffhile many spectators revelled in the atmosphere at the US Open, for Lleyton and Bec Hewitt<\/a>, it was a nail-biting session.<\/p>\n

The Aussie star couple<\/a> travelled state-side with their son<\/a>, junior tennis player\ufeff Cruz Hewitt, as he played a match at the famed tournament.<\/p>\n

On August 31, Lleyton, 44, and Bec, 42, were spotted in the stands as their son, 16, battled \ufeffBenjamin Willwerth of the United States in the Junior Boys’ Singles First Round match on day eight of the competition.<\/p>\n

Both were in matching casual clothes; a \ufefft-shirt, shorts and a baseball cap.<\/p>\n

The Home and Away star looked worried as she watched her son on the court, her chin resting on her hand \ufeffwith her hand over her mouth, while her husband smiled as he watched the events unfold.<\/p>\n

The parents were also seen sharing knowing looks and even strategising.\ufeff<\/p>\n

It’s not the first time Cruz has shown off his talents on a world stage.<\/p>\n

The teenager received a wildcard entry to the Australian Open 2024 Junior Championships, with his dad helping him warm up the morning of the match training on Show court 3 \u2013 the same court where Lleyton also made his main match debut.<\/p>\n

“Just unbelievably proud, to be honest,” Lleyton Hewitt said to WWOS<\/a> prior to the match.<\/p>\n

“Just some great memories coming back of me playing here. He’s been around the traps, but he’s worked extremely hard to get this opportunity. He is playing well.”<\/p>\n

The tennis romances of yesteryear<\/p>\n

The soon-to-be tennis prodigy previously won the Under 12s Australian Claycourt Championships<\/a> title for 2021, and in 2022, Cruz he got his first ITF title in Fiji.<\/p>\n

Despite carrying a famous surname, Cruz doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the pressure to live up to his dad’s fame.<\/p>\n

He told WWOS<\/a> in January 2025, “I mean, there’s definitely pros and cons. But I try and focus on the good things that come with it.<\/p>\n

“The pressure doesn’t bother me too much. I feel like it’s kind of a challenge to be better than him so that’s what I’m trying to do.”\ufeff<\/p>\n
