It’s officially September, and NFL Week 1 is just around the corner. The 2025 NFL season kicks off this Thursday with a blockbuster rivalry, as the Dallas Cowboys travel to face the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys are still reeling from the massive trade<\/a> that sent superstar Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, but will try to dig deep to beat their rival on enemy soil. Even without the preseason distractions, it might be a tough task: Philadelphia swept Dallas last season, and the Cowboys haven’t beaten the Eagles away since 2021.<\/p>\n

The 53-man rosters are set, with each team cutting a large number of players<\/a> ahead of the deadline. And now, with the first game just days away, teams are finishing up their final practices and tying up any loose ends on the contract front.<\/p>\n

Texans GM non-committal on whether Joe Mixon will play this season: Mixon was placed on the reserve\/non-football injury list on Monday as he deals with a foot injury, which means he’ll miss the first four weeks of the season. Will he play at all this year? “We’ll see. We’ll take it one day at a time,” Texans general manager Nick Caserio said.<\/a> “We’ll evaluate those players after four weeks and see where they are in their progression and then make a determination.” Mixon’s foot injury kept him out of offseason OTAs, minicamp and all of training camp. His absence on the Texans’ roster opens the door to Nick Chubb to be atop the running back depth chart ahead of Dameon Pierce, Dare Ogunbowale and Woody Marks.<\/p>\n

NFL debuts rivalry jerseys to be worn during 2025 season: The NFL is taking rivalry games to a new level in 2025. In an attempt to play up big games between some of the biggest adversaries in the sport, teams from the AFC East and NFC West will don new rivalry jerseys for select matchups. The league unveiled those rivalry uniforms Thursday, and they received high marks from fans. Check out the AFC East and NFC West’s editions right here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Colts insist they’re not trading Anthony Richardson: Despite benching Richardson in favor of Daniel Jones, Colts general manager Chris Ballard said<\/a> Wednesday he’s not going anywhere. \u201cWe\u2019re not trading him,\u201d Ballard said plainly, via ESPN\u2019s Stephen Holder. The Colts signed Jones to a one-year deal in March and he seemingly validated that decision by beating Richardson in a QB1 competition in training camp. Richardson was the fourth overall pick in 2023 but has struggled with injuries and subpar play.<\/p>\n
