The transfer window will slam shut this evening and Crystal Palace<\/a> have so far announced the signings of Walter Benitez,<\/a> Borna Sosa<\/a> and Yeremy Pino.<\/a><\/p>\n

Jaydee Canvot has agreed to switch Toulouse<\/a> for South London<\/a> and has completed his medical at the club.<\/p>\n

Oliver Glasner<\/a> tends to set Palace up with a three back and they are set to add another centre half to the squad.<\/p>\n

Chris Richards<\/a> and Maxence Lacroix<\/a> should be locked in starters for the season.<\/p>\n

Marc Guehi<\/a> had been heavily linked with a departure to Liverpool<\/a> and the Reds have made a bid of \u00a335m<\/a>, although that deal ultimately fell through with the defender remaining at Selhurst Park.<\/a><\/p>\n

Furthermore, Chadi Riad<\/a> is still injured, and this is a problem likely to keep him out for the next months. Midfielder by trade Jefferson Lerma<\/a> has operated as a centre back at times for Glasner\u2019s men.<\/p>\n

Reporter Fabrizio Romano<\/a> gave his signature \u2018here we go\u2019 for this Canvot move on Friday and Ed Aarons of the Guardian<\/a> confirmed that Palace are expected to pay Toulouse<\/a> up to 27 million euros. Aston Villa<\/a> previously had an interest in the player.<\/p>\n

What can Palace expect from the 19-year-old defender who is set to switch France for South London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What type of player is Canvot<\/p>\n

A raw one.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman stands at a height of 6 foot 2 and possesses ability aerially to win lots of his duels.<\/p>\n

He can move the ball efficiently and last season according to Fotmob,<\/a> in his first senior one, he had a pass accuracy of 86.7%.<\/p>\n

Canvot is confident on the ball, although at times he can invite risk.<\/p>\n

But last season he also averaged over four recoveries per start.<\/p>\n

He also has the pace to move into midfield and dribble towards goal like we have often seen the likes of Marc Guehi<\/a> and Joachim Andersen<\/a> doing for Palace.<\/p>\n

His career so far<\/p>\n

The 2006 born defender first broke onto the scene in 2023 as he featured on four occasions in 2023\/24 and 2024\/25 for Toulouse B in National 2 and 3.<\/p>\n

Canvot signed his senior contract with Toulouse in June 2024.<\/p>\n

Since his debut for their senior team in September 2024, he has made 20 appearances in Ligue 1<\/a> and two in the Coupe de France.<\/a><\/p>\n

So far, Canvot has represented France in three different age groups in the youth teams. He first featured for the under 17s in the 2022\/23 season.<\/p>\n

Over the last two years he has since risen through the under 19s playing four times for them and most recently has made four caps with the under 20s.<\/p>\n

How will he fit in<\/p>\n

If Marc Guehi<\/a> is to leave Palace, they may end up lacking a left centre back.<\/p>\n

Canvot is a versatile option for Glasner to add to his squad as he has also operated in midfield as a defensive midfielder.<\/p>\n

In Glasner\u2019s system with Daniel Munoz<\/a> making lots of darting runs forwards it is often the case that the right centre back has to cover at right back using pace to win tackles and the teen can do this well.<\/p>\n

The teen mainly plays as a right centre back in Carles Martinez\u2019s 3-4-3 formation meaning there should not be much of a system for him to change to.<\/p>\n

The Eagles may push Chris Richards <\/a>out to left centre back when Canvot is in the starting lineup.<\/p>\n

Palace are looking to get one more centre half through the door before the window closes with Canvot being one for the future as he does not have the most experience.<\/p>\n
