Until now, users had to manually re-enable these protections after a factory reset or when switching to a new phone.<\/p>\n<p> Don\u2019t want to miss the best from Android Authority?<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/product-documentation\/answer\/14343500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">latest Play Services update<\/a>, Google will now include these settings in your Android device\u2019s cloud backup. This means that when you restore your backup on a new device or your current one, your Theft Protection preferences will come back automatically, without the need to manually set them up again. It also means that if you have Theft Protection features turned off, they will remain as such when you restore your Android device from a backup.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"e_ng\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"September Google play services update\"  alt=\"September Google play services update\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/September-Google-play-services-update.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s cloud backup already saves app data, Wi-Fi networks, and other settings, and now Theft Protection is joining the list.
