info@eurohoops.net

Lithuania will be without Rokas Jokubaitis for the remainder of Eurobasket 2025. The point guard, who was the best player on his team, went down against Finland, and that’s the end of the tournament for him.

Bayern’s new signing was one of the standouts of the tournament so far.

As the German club announced, the 24-year-old guard suffered a “serious ligament injury in his left knee on Monday evening during the European Championship group match in Tampere against Finland (81-78). This was confirmed by on-site examinations on Tuesday morning. Jokubaitis will be out for six months until next spring. The new Bayern point guard will now return to Munich in close consultation with the Lithuanian national team, where the necessary surgical procedure will also be performed by a specialist.

“Injuries are unfortunately part of sports, but this one is especially devastating for Rokas,” said FCBB sports director Dragan Tarlac on Tuesday.

“We watched Rokas at the European Championships with such joy; he played outstandingly and led his team as a true leader. But we also do not doubt that, with his spirit and fighting spirit, he will emerge from this stronger than ever. We’re waiting for him and will support him in everything he can to ensure he returns to the court next year. The same goes for Jo Voigtmann, for whom we also had our fingers crossed for his European Championship dream. After all, we’ll have him back soon. We will support the coaches as best we can during the preparation and early stages of the season so that we can overcome this difficult phase together.”

Johannes Voigtmann has been back in Munich since the weekend, where the world champion is undergoing a minor procedure. He is expected to be out for a few weeks”.

2025-09-02T11:46:24+00:00 2025-09-02T11:46:24+00:00 2025-09-02T15:11:07+00:00.
