American rapper Snoop Dogg has broken his silence on the backlash from the LGBTQ+ community after his comments bemoaning the depiction of same-sex relationships in kids\u2019 movies went viral.<\/p>\n

It comes as AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon again backed the artist to do a \u201cgreat job\u201d as the pre-match entertainment at this year\u2019s grand final.<\/p>\n

While puffing a joint and speaking on the It\u2019s Giving podcast on the same day the AFL banned Adelaide player Izak Rankine for directing a homophobic slur at an opponent, the 53-year-old said he was \u201cscared\u201d to watch children\u2019s movies with his grandkids due to awkward questions surrounding LGBTQ+ issues often given a voice in the films.<\/p>\n

He also claimed the increasing diversity awareness was \u201ctaking the masculinity out of me\u201d amid plenty of other expletive-filled comments.<\/p>\n

However, commenting via an Instagram video of actress TS Madison criticising the rapper on Hollywood Unlocked\u2019s channel, the Grammy-award winner brushed off the controversy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll my gay friends (know) what\u2019s up, they been calling me with love,\u2019 Snoop said.<\/p>\n

The controversy has done little to deter the AFL from continuing with Snoop Dogg as the grand final headliner.<\/p>\n

Many fans and media commentators have suggested the rapper should be removed from the AFL decider\u2019s entertainment line-up, but Dillon, while not addressing Snoop Dogg\u2019s comments, showed support for the artist.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m looking forward to over the next four weeks is the most important nine games of the year,\u201d Dillon told journalists on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we\u2019ll get to the last Saturday in September, and we\u2019ll have the two best teams there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grand final entertainment will add to what will be an amazing spectacle \u2026 it will be at a level that we haven\u2019t seen for a long time, he\u2019ll do a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dillon has previously stated the show will be \u201cfamily-friendly\u201d and that the league had booked the 53-year-old as the doting grandfather he is today.<\/p>\n

During the original rant, Snoop Dogg shared a story about his grandson asking, \u201cPapa Snoop, how\u2019d she have a baby with a woman?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like oh s***, I didn\u2019t come in for this s***, I just came to watch the goddamn movie,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that\u2019s like this, f*** me. I\u2019m scared to go to the movies now, like y\u2019all throwing me in the middle of s*** that I don\u2019t have an answer for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt threw me for a loop. I\u2019m like, what part of the movie was this? These are kids that we have to show at this age.<\/p>\n
