(ABC Goldfields: Jarrod Lucas)<\/p>\n<p>New markets for embattled sheep industry<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">With the sale delayed, Mr Setter said there had been missed opportunities for both the company and other sheep producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We were in negotiations when people were shooting sheep in WA [last year], we were really trying to get the transaction done quickly because we could see a home for some of them,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We are budgeting on not selling many sheep off the property for the first couple years, and buying sheep in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Hopefully we can be a bigger part of the WA sheep industry going forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He said CPC would be purchasing between 300 and 600 rams annually, depending on the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It is welcome news for WA&#8217;s stud ram breeders, who have struggled with depressed prices and demand in recent years due to the state&#8217;s diminishing sheep numbers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Four shearers, both male and female, shear sheep and sweep up wool in a shed.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/390c3e7a8918425e3d830b88141c0e98\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Thousands of shearers have worked at the station in its decades of operations.
