C\ufeffhanning Tatum<\/a> has opened up about his “painful” divorce from ex-wife Jenna Dewan<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The actor, 45, made the rare comments about the split<\/a>, which occurred in 2018, while discussing his character in his new movie Roofman with Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half,” he continued before trailing off.<\/p>\n

“Not to go into all that. It’s in the past.”<\/p>\n

The pair announced their split in April \ufeff2018, sharing in a joint social media statement that they had decided to “lovingly separate as a couple”.<\/p>\n

Dewan filed for divorce six months later and they \ufeffwere declared divorced and legally single by a judge in late 2019.<\/p>\n

What followed was a years-long legal battle over finances and custody.<\/p>\n

The pair welcomed their daughter Everly in 2013, and now \ufeffshare custody of her.<\/p>\n

They came to a final settlement six years later, officially finalising their divorce last September<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tatum and Dewan met on the set of the popular dance film Step Up in 2006.\ufeff <\/p>\n

They got engaged two years later and got married in 2009.<\/p>\n

Tatum’s reflection on his divorce came about as he discussed his new character Jeff Manchester’s estrangement from his daughter.<\/p>\n

While Tatum is not estranged from his daughter, he expressed that he could “understand” the experience as he is away from his daughter regularly.<\/p>\n

“It’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I wish I could just have her all the time.”\ufeff<\/p>\n

Both Tatum and Dewan have since moved on romantically.<\/p>\n

Dewan is engaged to Steve Kazee, with whom she has gone on to welcome two more children with \ufeff\u2013 \ufeffCallum, four and Rhiannon, three months<\/p>\n

Tatum went on to become engaged to his Blink Twice director Zo\u00eb Kravitz, after the pair began dating in 2021. <\/p>\n

They split last year and Tatum is reportedly in a new relationship.<\/p>\n
