Police have released CCTV footage showing the moment a gunman opened fire in broad daylight in southern Sydney earlier this year.<\/p>\n
The slow-motion vision shows a masked man emerging from a car window before firing a volley of shots at a group of men in Brighton-Le-Sands.<\/p>\n
Police said the car then circled back, and more shots were fired at the group outside a beachfront venue on February 18.<\/p>\n
It comes as police said they were also looking for a mystery young woman who was seen talking to the group of men just prior to them being shot at.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Taskforce Falcon Acting Commander Jason Smith said the woman was on the scene immediately prior to the shootings.<\/p>\n
“In particular, we are wanting to speak to a female who was seen just prior to the shooting,” Superintendent Smith said.<\/p>\n
“She’s described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, thin build, with long dark hair. At the time she was wearing a black-coloured top.<\/p>\n
“We believe that the woman that was at the scene with the men just prior to the shooting can assist us with our investigation.<\/p>\n
“We are wanting to speak with her. We are trying to establish the circumstances of that meeting, what was said.”<\/p>\n
Taskforce Falcon was set up in the wake of the shootings and public acts of violence that have plagued Sydney in recent months.<\/p>\n

When asked about the vivid footage from the scene, Superintendent Smith said it was a “really disturbing incident”.<\/p>\n
“That footage is quite confronting, but that is the reality of what we are faced with at Taskforce Falcon,” he said.<\/p>\n
“To have people firing shots indiscriminately from a moving vehicle is something we will not tolerate and work around the clock to ensure those people are brought to justice.<\/p>\n
“This is one of a string of really disturbing incidents occurring, public place shootings \u2014 we can’t have this happening on the streets of NSW.”<\/p>\n
Shooting linked to Alameddine split<\/p>\n

Police believe the shooting was the result of a split inside Sydney\u2019s Alameddine crime family.<\/p>\n
The Alameddines operate an organised crime network in Western Sydney, who police believe run the city\u2019s drug trade.<\/p>\n
The February shooting was one of at least four linked to the feud.<\/p>\n
One of the group targeted in Brighton-Le-Sands was Dawood Zakaria, another figure linked to the Alameddines who was later gunned down in Granville.<\/p>\n
Another one of the men present at Brighton-Le-Sands evaded hitmen in Rosehill a few months later.<\/p>\n
