Brad Pitt F1 movie: An insider\u2019s complete guide to the F1 film<\/a><\/p>\n\u201cThey were impressed!\u201d Norris said of his McLaren team\u2019s feelings on Pitt\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think people realize what it takes to step into a Formula 1 car and just go out and drive and give it some \u2014 especially because it was a very warm day in Texas.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe did a very good job. I\u2019ve seen some of the data, I\u2019ve seem some of the overlays and things.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think for his first day in a Formula 1 car \u2014 because obviously what they drove before was Formula 2, and [that\u2019s] certainly quick, but it\u2019s not Formula 1.\u201d<\/p>\n
The McLaren driver also shared a hint about how the actor performed: \u201cHe got to 197 miles per hour, he said \u2014 and was gutted that he didn\u2019t do 200!<\/p>\n
\u201cThey should have just taken a bit of wing off so he could do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
For reference, the fastest recorded speed hit at COTA was set in 2016 by Kevin Magnussen: 214.4 miles per hour.<\/p>\n
Norris himself had a chance for some one-on-one time with Pitt; the day before the actor got behind the wheel, he chatted with Norris about what to expect.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was cool,\u201d Norris enthused. \u201cFirst of all, I was out the day before to ask some questions and things.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe definitely wanted to understand things and know what I felt in different places, what I gears I was using, things like that \u2014 what makes you want to use different gears, and what\u2019s the feeling you want to have.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was definitely asking, a good amount of questions, which is cool, because it\u2019s not like he\u2019s like: \u2018I just wanna go out and drive and do it.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he wants to do well, and he wants to drive fast. And that\u2019s always a nice thing to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
At this point in the Beyond the Grid episode, host Tom Clarkson whispered, \u201cDon\u2019t crash! Don\u2019t crash!\u201d<\/p>\n
Norris laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did say that!\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was my main bit of advice; I think that was the last thing I said to him, but I still said give it some.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you\u2019re uncomfortable, just put it a bit more \u2014 which is a hard thing to do, but you\u2019ve got to kind of break through that barrier of feeling a bit uncomfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think in Formula 1, you have to get used to it not feeling right, and that\u2019s normally kind of when it\u2019s right.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo especially for your first day, everything\u2019s going to feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe more used to being a bit uncomfortable you can be, the better you\u2019ll do.\u201d<\/p>\n
