Broncos<\/a> coach Michael Maguire<\/a> has lifted the lid on the untimely dramas facing his side ahead of a crunch round 27 showdown against Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Many were shocked on Tuesday afternoon when Gehamat Shibasaki was left off the Brisbane team list<\/a>, with the club confirming the State of Origin centre had been dropped due to disciplinary concerns.<\/p>\n

Shibasaki reportedly turned up to training on Monday under the influence of alcohol and will not feature on Thursday night against the premiership favourites.<\/p>\n

Speaking to media on Wednesday morning, the coach admitted that Shibasaki would “pay a price” for his actions in the short-term.<\/p>\n

“It’s obviously disappointing, I’m not gonna go away from that,” Maguire said.<\/p>\n

“He’s made a mistake and he understands that and you pay a price I suppose.<\/p>\n

“The focus for us is really about this game. I don’t think it’s a big call to be honest. It’s the expectation of what is going on and culture is everything.<\/p>\n

“You have to live by what you’re building and the expectations of each other.<\/p>\n

“The focus for us is this game. We’ve worked really hard this season, learned plenty about each other and had plenty of hurdles and this is no different.”<\/p>\n

Maguire was then asked if Shibasaki trained with teammates and gave a blunt response.<\/p>\n

“He’s out there training – he got absolutely flogged,” the coach said.<\/p>\n

The other drama coming out of Red Hill this week has centred around Reece Walsh, who posted a bizarre video on social media of himself drinking toilet water<\/a>, prompting a swift response from the Broncos and plenty of reaction from outside the club.<\/p>\n

Maguire smirked when the topic was brought up, but did hint he had spoken to Walsh about his off-field antics and how it reflects the Broncos.<\/p>\n

“It was unusual,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We’re all different and the adjustments of society in this day and age is a little different to what I grew up in, but obviously it’s been spoken about.<\/p>\n

“I speak to the players about that, and we are all different. That’s a different one.<\/p>\n

“He’s very passionate about what we’re doing and he just needs to make sure he adjusts to the expectations and he’s no different.<\/p>\n

“We have a big influence on our community. I spoke to him about the great influence he can have as well so just focusing on that.”<\/p>\n

It wasn’t the first time this year that Walsh has found himself in hot water, with a video of him wearing a boxing glove and punching a mate in the head dividing opinion across the game.<\/p>\n

Brisbane can secure a top-four finish with a win over the Storm on Thursday night, but a loss could see them drop as low as sixth heading into the finals. <\/p>\n
