Amazon\u2019s Tomb Raider<\/a> live-action series has officially found its star, and has also circled a date on when production will begin on the new series based on the iconic video game franchise.<\/p>\n

Who is playing Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider TV show? <\/p>\n

According to a new report from Variety, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner will star in the series as Lara Croft. Turner was previously reported to be in talks to play Croft<\/a>, but hadn\u2019t formally been confirmed. However, she is now set to play the iconic character in the series, which has been in development at Amazon MGM since 2023. <\/p>\n

Variety\u2019s report notes that the series will begin production on January 19, 2026. <\/p>\n

Turner is obviously best known for her longtime role as Sansa Stark in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Outside of that, however, Turner has starred as Jean Grey in the recent\u00a0X-Men<\/a>\u00a0films, and also recently starred in the 2024 British crime drama\u00a0Joan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As of now, not a whole lot is known about the upcoming Tomb Raider series, other than the fact that it is being described as \u201cepic\u201d with a \u201cglobe-trotting\u201d adventure, according to Amazon MGM\u2019s Jennifer Salke in 2024. <\/p>\n

The new Tomb Raider series is created, written, and executive-produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Variety\u2019s report notes that Chad Hodge has also boarded the show, and will also serve as an executive producer and co-showrunner of the show alongside Waller-Bridge. Jonathan van Tulleken will serve as director for the series. <\/p>\n
