There was a lot of hype ahead of Lady Gaga\u2019s appearance<\/a> on Netflix\u2019s Wednesday<\/a>, but now that all of season two<\/a> has dropped, it\u2019s clear that her new song, \u201cThe Dead Dance,\u201d has an equally important presence in the series. No spoilers if you haven\u2019t binged the new episodes yet, but you can also enjoy the song on its own thanks to the Tim Burton-directed music video.<\/p>\n

Though Burton has a cinematic filmography stretching back 40 years\u2014all the way to 1985\u2019s Pee-wee\u2019s Big Adventure, his feature debut\u2014Wednesday is his first major foray into TV, and his list of music video credits also isn\u2019t terribly long. However, even if \u201cThe Dead Dance\u201d wasn\u2019t part of his Netflix show, it\u2019s a pretty ideal pairing of artistic mindsets here; the eerie black-and-white palette suddenly shifts into lurid color as Lady Gaga invites all her pals to the undead doll disco.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Tudum<\/a> earlier this year, Lady Gaga explained \u201cthe inspiration for \u2018The Dead Dance\u2019 was a breakup, and it was all about the way that we sometimes feel when it\u2019s over; how a relationship ending can kill our ability to feel hopeful about love. It\u2019s got this really cool, funky beat underneath it. And that is when the song becomes not just about the relationship; it becomes about having fun with your friends when you\u2019ve been through something tough and amazing. I can\u2019t wait for people to listen to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
