{"id":117090,"date":"2025-09-04T01:51:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T01:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117090\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T01:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T01:51:07","slug":"she-plans-to-inspire-young-readers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117090\/","title":{"rendered":"She plans to inspire young readers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Oscar-winning actor and book club impresario <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/reese-witherspoon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reese Witherspoon<\/a> is teaming up with her publisher, Hachette Book Group, on a literacy campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this fall, new audio books from Nathan Harris, Patricia Cornwell and other Hachette fiction authors will include a message from Witherspoon urging parents to read to their children at least 10 minutes a day, visit libraries and bookstores and perhaps even form a book club. Witherspoon\u2019s own club has helped boost sales for such choices as <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/rf-kuang-interview-katabasis-yellowface-babel-7241675395567d3ad437dc7a2ef532a3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">R.F. Kuang\u2019s<\/a> \u201cYellowface,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/c887a5168f486f003e77c2862592a792\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ann Patchett\u2019s<\/a> \u201cTom Lake\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/emily-henry-interview-funny-story-d871c897f44486e36a3cb00372c9c340\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Henry\u2019s \u201c<\/a> Great Big Beautiful Life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The initiative with Witherspoon is part of Hachette\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/joinraisingreaders.com\/landing-page\/raising-readers-home\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cRaising Readers\u201d<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough community and collaboration, we hope to ignite children\u2019s imaginations and remind them of the endless joy and possibility that reading for fun can bring,\u201d Witherspoon said in a statement released Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Witherspoon\u2019s message also will be included in a novel she has out in October, \u201cGone Before Goodbye,\u201d a thriller she wrote with Harlan Coben.<\/p>\n<p>Hachette CEO David Shelley said in a statement that \u201cWe\u2019re up against a lot of competition for young readers\u2019 attention.
