A man has died in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains in what has been described as a tragic skiing incident.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Thredbo resort just after midday on Tuesday and found a 22-year-old man dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The ABC understands the man lost control on a trail known as Dream Run and crashed into rocks.<\/p>\n

The blue-graded run begins at the popular Merritts Mountain House refreshment centre, connects to the High Noon run near Mid Station and passes under the Gunbarrel Chairlift.<\/p>\n
It is understood the area where the incident occurred was closed for several hours while emergency services were on the scene.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Monaro Police District will prepare a report for the coroner.<\/p>\n
“Thredbo is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of a skier at Thredbo alpine resort on September 2,” the resort said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“Emergency services were engaged, with Thredbo Ski Patrol and a Thredbo Medical Centre doctor promptly attending the scene.<\/p>\n
“The Thredbo community extends its heartfelt condolences to family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”<\/p>\n

Second death in weeks<\/p>\n
The death comes weeks after 22-year-old Drew Youngquist died in a snowboarding incident at Perisher Resort.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Front Valley Terrain Park on August 12 following reports of a snowboard crash.<\/p>\n
Sources told the ABC Mr Youngquist had attempted a manoeuvre, landed badly and struck an object that caused him to crash.<\/p>\n
The experienced snowboarder was on a working holiday from the United States and was employed at Jindabyne’s outdoor education provider Action Learning Initiatives.<\/p>\n
