{"id":117336,"date":"2025-09-04T04:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T04:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117336\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T04:08:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T04:08:11","slug":"will-power-signs-with-andretti-global-indycar-team-2026-replacing-colton-herta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117336\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Power signs with Andretti Global IndyCar team 2026 replacing Colton Herta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WILL Power is set to race on in IndyCar, with confirmation of his position at Andretti Global in 2026, replacing Colton Herta, who has been enlisted as Cadillac F1\u2019s test driver.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement is the latest in a line of off-season driver swaps to drop after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/heartbreak-for-mclaughlin-in-indycar-decider\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the season finale in Nashville.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/will-power-and-team-penske-split\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The first domino to fall came yesterday, when it was announced that Power would be leaving his home of 17 seasons, Team Penske.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Power\u2019s replacement is destined to be David Malukas, who has been under contract with Team Penske since last year.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Rinus Veekay has departed Dale Coyne Racing to take Malukas\u2019s seat at the Penske-affiliated AJ Foyt Racing.<\/p>\n<p>Herta, meanwhile, is headed to Europe, pursuing his dream of racing in Formula 1, with a season in F2 still a possibility.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/full-tilt-colin-bond-autobiography-book?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Colin-Bond-Full-Tilt_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to say how excited I am to be joining Andretti Global,\u201d said Power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t thank Dan (Towriss), Jill (Gregory) and the team enough for this opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cColton is someone that I\u2019ve been massively impressed with for a while.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has a lot of natural ability, and I think he\u2019s going to do a great job over in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to watch him and will work to step in and do everyone on the 26 team proud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m also looking forward to driving for Honda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been a tough competitor, and I look forward to working with the entire HRC team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, I have tremendous respect for Kyle (Kirkwood) and Marcus (Ericsson).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had some great battles racing against them, and I think we\u2019re going to make a great combination as teammates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a whole new chapter for me. I have to say that sometimes a change of scenery and a fresh start is very energising.
