{"id":117885,"date":"2025-09-04T09:32:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T09:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117885\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T09:32:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T09:32:11","slug":"nascar-news-shane-van-gisbergen-fighting-for-playoffs-survival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/117885\/","title":{"rendered":"NASCAR news: Shane van Gisbergen fighting for Playoffs survival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2232401405.jpg\" alt=\"\u2018The weakness is me\u2019: SVG fighting for Playoffs survival\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tShane van Gisbergen<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/nascar-news-shane-van-gisbergen-southern-500-darlington-results-playoffs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Van Gisbergen slid from sixth in the rankings to 12th<\/a> following a tough Southern 500 at Darlington that kicked-off the three-race Round of 16.<\/p>\n<p>A 32nd placed finish leaves him just three points above the cut-line to make it into the Round of 12 with Gateway and Bristol to come.<\/p>\n<p>While not many are tipping the Cup Series rookie to progress, van Gisbergen is fighting hard to keep the #88 Trackhouse Racing Camaro in contention.<\/p>\n<p>Asked of his biggest strength and biggest weakness heading into the final nine races of the campaign, van Gisbegen said: \u201cThe biggest strength is my team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got awesome people in my corner, and I know they\u2019ll do anything for us to succeed. Seeing the work and preparation in the team has been awesome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vibe and how knuckled down everyone is so special and it\u2019s really cool to be a part of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weakness is me. It\u2019s my inexperience and I\u2019ve got those people helping me to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/nascar-news-2025-darlington-shane-van-gisbergen-svg-reaction-comments-playoffs-points-permutations-picture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Van Gisbergen \u2018helpless\u2019 in horror first Playoffs race<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The fact van Gisbergen has not previously raced at the 1.25 mile (2km) Gateway oval only adds to the challenge this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Van Gisbergen struggled with the handling of his #88 Camaro at Darlington and also lost out through a strategy gamble in the final stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was pretty down about our result on Sunday night, but we have two more weeks to have good results, try to do better myself and get our car better, which we are capable of,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never been to this track, so preparation and practice will be key to a good result on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1001534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/540200861_18522562231017655_3182316264972274104_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"960\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>SVG during the Southern 500.
