(Lauren Hubert\/@sororitynutritionist)<\/p>\n<p>While refined carbs such as white bread and pastries can spike blood sugar, high-fiber whole food carbs can help stabilize it and keep energy steady.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It really comes down to how much you&#8217;re eating and what you&#8217;re eating,&#8221; Hubert said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/food-drink\/social-media-star-food-nanny-revives-heirloom-recipes-ancient-grains-sit-down-dinners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SOCIAL MEDIA STAR &#8216;THE FOOD NANNY&#8217; REVIVES HEIRLOOM RECIPES, ANCIENT GRAINS AND SIT-DOWN DINNERS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein is about 46 grams per day for women and 56 grams for men. Training experts say very active people and those trying to build muscle should nearly double that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Below are five carb sources suggested by Hubert for helping to build muscle, stay full and support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">overall health.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. (iStock)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s one of the first carbs I think of when trying to sneak in protein without having to eat a ton more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/food\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">chicken breast,&#8221;<\/a> she said.<\/p>\n<p>A quarter of a cup of dry quinoa is 170 calories and packs 5 grams of protein.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/food-drink\/breakfast-key-meeting-daily-fiber-needs-amid-american-health-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">BREAKFAST KEY TO MEETING DAILY FIBER NEEDS AMID AMERICAN &#8216;HEALTH CRISIS&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hubert said she loves adding quinoa to a chicken wrap with sweet potatoes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Chef&#8217;s kiss,&#8221; she said in a recent Instagram video highlighting her favorite protein-packed picks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2. Whole wheat pasta<\/p>\n<p>Summer isn&#8217;t over yet, so neither are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/recipes\/meals\/salad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pasta salads,<\/a> Hubert said. They caused belly fat,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Now fiber is getting its big moment, and it&#8217;s actually bringing carbs back to the table.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Whole wheat pasta also has more vitamins and minerals than refined pasta \u2014 including iron, magnesium, zinc and B vitamins.<\/p>\n<p>4.
