\n\tNot everything has been dated yet, either. HBO has \u201cThe Chair Company\u201d from \u201cI Think You Should Leave\u201d co-creators Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin (starring Robinson) this fall. And in late-breaking news, HBO\u2019s much-anticipated \u201cIT: Welcome to Derry\u201d \u2014 the 1960s-set prequel to Andy Muschietti\u2019s feature-film adaptations of Stephen King\u2019s terrifying 1986 novel \u2014 will scare the crap out of viewers beginning on Oct. 26. Muschietti himself developed it, along with Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, and the cast will include Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo and (shaking with fear as we type this) Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd as Pennywise. <\/p>\n
\n\tOne feature of last fall\u2019s deluge was the six (6!) shows from creator Ryan Murphy: This fall, Murphy has \u201conly\u201d four offerings, including three with dates below, \u201cMonster: The Ed Gein Story,\u201d the latest from Murphy\u2019s Monsters-verse, along with \u201c9-1-1\u2033 and its new spinoff, \u201c9-1-1: Nashville.\u201d Undated, however, is the Kim Kardashian-led (!!!) legal drama \u201cAll\u2019s Fair,\u201d in which Kardashian\u2019s character is modeled after her very own divorce attorney, Laura Wasser (the \u201cdisso queen,\u201d as TMZ calls her). On \u201cAll\u2019s Fair,\u201d Kardashian, in her first lead role on a scripted series, will be flanked by Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor and Matthew Noszka, with Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close also among the cast.\u00a0That will bow on Hulu in November. <\/p>\n
\n\tNetwork television had a resurgence in the 2024-25 season, with dramas such as \u201cTracker,\u201d \u201cHigh Potential,\u201d \u201cDoc\u201d and \u201cMatlock\u201d (among others) showing there are still significant signs of life (and large audiences!) to be found on broadcast \u2014 which is why it\u2019s slightly confusing that, other than the previously mentioned \u201c9-1-1: Nashville,\u201d\u00a0only CBS\u00a0has new scripted shows on the schedule this fall. Of course, all four broadcasters have tons of returning shows, including Fox\u2019s Sunday animation block, led, as always, by \u201cThe Simpsons,\u201d on Sept. 28, and a full night of \u201cNCIS\u201d on CBS (\u201cNCIS,\u201d \u201cNCIS: Origins\u201d and import \u201cNCIS: Sydney\u201d) premiering on Oct. 14. But what the hell? You can\u2019t win if you don\u2019t try, people!<\/p>\n
\n\tLuckily, there are plenty of other things to watch this fall, which will also herald the beginning of the end of \u201cStranger Things\u201d \u2014 the Duffer brothers\u2019 Netflix sensation will get a holiday rollout for its final bow, as the kids from Hawkins save the world one last time. <\/p>\n

Read Variety\u2018s review of \u201cThe Paper\u201d here<\/a>.<\/p>\n \tNCIS: Tony & Ziva<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 4, Paramount+ (three-episode launch, then weekly release) \n\tThe \u201cNCIS\u201d spinoff follows the fan-favorite on-again off-again couple Anthony \u201cTony\u201d DiNozzo and Ziva David, who have been living in Paris with their 12-year-old daughter. Per the official description, Tony\u2019s security company gets attacked, causing the duo to go on the run and \u201ctry to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.\u201d<\/p>\n \tTask<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 7, HBO (weekly) \n\tSet in the \u201cMare of Easttown\u201d universe \u2014 also created by Brad Ingelsby, as his follow-up to \u201cMare\u201d \u2014\u00a0 FBI agent Tom (Ruffalo) leads a task force who try and end a string of violent robberies led by Robbie (Pelphrey), a working-class family man (and criminal). Though they\u2019re on opposite sides of the law, both men\u2019s journeys are far different from how they appear from the outside. From there, they uncover \u201ca dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia.\u201d<\/p>\n \tThe Girlfriend<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 10, Prime Video (binge) \n\tThe six-episode psychological drama, based on Michelle Frances\u2019 novel, tells the story of Laura (Wright), a woman whose seemingly perfect life is turned upside down when her precious son (Davidson) begins dating someone she doesn\u2019t trust (Cooke). Told from different POVs, this drama gives a feeling of \u201cThe Affair\u201d \u2026 with some dark twists. <\/p>\n \tDancing With the Stars<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 16, ABC \n\tSeason 34 of the dance competition series includes all returning hosts and judges. Things have changed in the world, with \u201cthe elusive nature of truth in a polarized America\u201d full of \u201cdeepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups,\u201d everyone must redetermine who they can really trust. <\/p>\n \tGen V<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 17, Prime Video (three-episode launch, then weekly release) \n\tThe long-awaited second season of will include key events leading into the final chapter of \u201cThe Boys.\u201d School is back in session at Godolkin University, where there\u2019s a \u201cmysterious new Dean\u201d in charge. Per the logline, \u201cThe gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize.\u201d In an interview at Comic-Con<\/a> at Variety\u2018s studio, \u201cGen V\u201d showrunner Michele Fazekas talked about how Season 2 will pay tribute to Chance Perdomo, who was one of the show\u2019s leads in Season 1. Hawke plays a citizen journalist \u201cwhose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble.\u201d But when one expos\u00e9 leads to a suspicious suicide, he begins hunting around even more.<\/p>\n \tThe Golden Bachelor<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 24, ABC<\/p>\n \n\tThe second season of \u201cThe Golden Bachelor\u201d will follow Mel Owens, a 66-year-old former NFL veteran-turned-lawyer and a father of two. Mel has already faced a bit of backlash, saying in one interview that he would be \u201ccutting\u201d any of the contestants over 60. He later apologized for his comments to Glamour<\/a>, saying that he hasn\u2019t dated in 26 years and had no clue what was considered \u201cgolden\u201d since he didn\u2019t watch the first season. He also stated that he apologized to the women on the first night in the mansion.<\/p>\n \tHotel Costiera<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 24, Prime Video (binge) \n\tMixing action, drama and comedy, the series is set in Italy following former U.S. Marine Daniel De Luca (Williams). As he returns to Italy to fix up one of the world\u2019s most luxurious hotels in Positano, he is also searching for the owner\u2019s missing daughter.<\/p>\n \tSurvivor<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tSept. 24, CBS <\/p>\n \n\tWith a new popularity (and Emmy nominations again!), \u201cSurvivor\u201d is back. Season 49 will kick off with a two-hour premiere before shifting to 90-minute episodes throughout the rest of the series.
