Manchester United have had a \u2018shock bid\u2019 for Emiliano Martinez rejected by an \u2018incredulous\u2019 Aston Villa after completing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.<\/p>\n
The Cameroon international was finally announced as the Red Devils\u2019 third summer signing on Monday after Matheus Cunha joined in a \u00a362.5m move from Wolves while Diego Leon arrived for \u00a33.3m<\/a>, and United aren\u2019t at all happy with Brentford over their tactics during negotiations.<\/p>\n Amid reports claiming Sir Jim Ratcliffe would not be \u2018held to ransom\u2019<\/a> as Brentford held out for their asking price, Mirror have revealed that Manchester United are \u2018angry\u2019 with Mbeumo\u2019s now former club<\/a> in a \u2018slam\u2019 of their transfer tactics.<\/p>\n It\u2019s claimed Brentford \u2018put pressure on the forward to go to Newcastle or Tottenham\u2019 over United despite the 25-year-old insisting he only had eyes for a move to Old Trafford, while putting further \u2018pressure on Mbeumo to reduce his wage demands\u2019 in order to \u2018increase the size of fee they would receive\u2019.<\/p>\n The report adds:<\/p>\n \u2018Sources involved in the deal claim Brentford wanted a fee of \u00a370m plus \u00a37m in add-ons for Mbeumo, but United managed to negotiate down that final figure, with the \u00a36m add-ons relating to a mix of team and individual performances.\u2019<\/p>\n Mbeumo\u2019s delighted though, having joined the club of his \u201cdreams\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cAs soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,\u201d said Mbeumo<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday.
