The Boston Bruins<\/a> are in a bit of a strange spot heading into the 2025-26 season. After missing the postseason last year, the B\u2019s worked on retooling their roster this offseason in an effort to get back on track, but it remains to be seen whether they made enough improvements to reemerge as a playoff contender.<\/p>\n

Not much went right for the Bruins last season. After making a surprise run to the Eastern Conference semifinals the year before, Boston struggled from the get-go in the 2024-25 campaign, and it was never able to find its footing amid a slew of injuries and an early coaching change that resulted in Jim Montgomery getting fired.<\/p>\n

The B\u2019s are heading into the new season with more stability, as they significantly bolstered the depth on their roster and hired Marco Sturm to be their new head coach. However, expectations for this team heading into the new campaign aren\u2019t exactly high.<\/p>\n

And yet, even with that narrative surrounding the team, star goaltender Jeremy Swayman<\/a> doesn\u2019t seem concerned. While Swayman knows last year wasn\u2019t Boston\u2019s best season, he\u2019s confident that the team can exceed expectations<\/a> in the 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that we have an endless belief mindset, and that\u2019s gotta be set from day one,\u201d Swayman said when speaking to reporters on Thursday. \u201cWe can\u2019t go in the future, we can\u2019t predict what\u2019s gonna happen, but the thing is that we can control what we can control, right here, right now.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHow we\u2019re practicing, how we\u2019re training, and getting ourselves prepared for an NHL season. I\u2019m gonna take it day by day, and I know that we all will, and when we find success, we\u2019re gonna roll with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

After signing an eight-year, $66 million contract extension with the Bruins last offseason, Swayman struggled mightily, posting a save percentage of just 89.2% while also allowing a career-high 3.11 goals per game.<\/p>\n

If Boston is going to be better this upcoming season, it starts with Swayman returning to his previous All-Star form in net. He clearly believes the B\u2019s can take a step forward, and time will tell whether or not he\u2019s right.<\/p>\n
